Reflection #12

Today in class we took a quiz on chapter seven. I was so not prepared for that quiz at all. The rest of the class we mainly focused on the exact definitions of race, nationality, and ethnicity. I never knew the exact answer of ethnicity. We also read a poem called “ The Negro Speaks of Rivers” by Langston Hughes. The poem really stood out to me, but at first it was kinda hard for me to understand what it fully meant.

Reflection #9

Today in class we went over part one of “Wild” by Cheryl Strayed. We discussed critical questions that my other classmates had. Most of the questions made me put myself in her shoes. Part one mainly focused on her mom dying and Cheryl and Paul’s divorce.

Reflection #8

Today in class we started reading the book wild by Cheryl Strayed. In the first few pages it mainly talked about her losing her mom and her picking up a book by faith. One part that stood out to me was how she was twenty-two and her mom had her at the age of twenty-two. I’m really enjoying the book so far, some of the things the book discuss really stand out to me and makes me wonder. I am looking forward to starting on chapter two.

Reflection #7

Today in class we read and talked about blame, value, and choice. Switching the tense is a good way to control a argument. I really liked this chapter because it was something I could relate to. Later on in the class we reviewed our test on what does it mean to be an individual, I got a better understanding of how to brainstorm and back it up. We also was given a prompt on what does it mean to own something. At first, I didn’t know where to begin because I was trying to come up with ideas no one else had. Instead of doing that I ended up keeping it simple so I won’t get confused or lost.
