Reflection #36

  Today in class we read over a poem with metaphors that were explained. After we read the poem and had a good idea of how to make our own Mr. Rease gave us time to make one. I started off by making a t-chart, one side for metaphors and the other side for the meaning. I didn’t have a difficult time making it because I understood it right away. My poem was based on life.

 Today in class we read “Reading To Write” by Stephen King. In the essay he talked about how you have to read in order to write. If you don’t read you won’t be able to write. He also talked about if you read your favorite author book you are most likely to write like them. I feel like that’s true because I write like most of my favorite authors.

 Today class we started if off by writing down lesson three vocabulary words. We were given ten minutes to do so after the ten minutes we started on the video presentations. Although we had a video presentation we still had to explain the word and how it relates to the video. Most of the video presentations were funny and helped me retain them.

 Today in class we went in Ms. Well class and took the social studies AP assessment. The test was very challenging and I feel like I didn’t know a lot on there. Most of the questions consist of readings, maps, graphs, and pictures. The reading part was what I struggled with the most.

  Today in class we went over more rhetorical devices. I never heard of most of the devices. Later on we did a Kahoot on rhetorical devices and learn more about the process of elimination.

 Today in class we wrote down 15 vocabulary words. We have to chose 4 words for our quiz next Tuesday.. we almost went for rhetorical words. We learned more about hyperboles and did a exercise on it.

  Today in class we went over the different between listening and hearing. Honestly, I never thought of the difference of the two. I thought they both meant the same thing. We went over a presentation on active listening and the steps. Today’s lesson really caught my attention, it showed me what I need to do when I have a speaker speaking.

  Today I class I took the writing part of my eqt. The only bad thing about that was that I left my book and only had my notes to look at. Overall the essay wasn’t really hard, you just had to read. I think I at least made a B.

  Today in class went over good and bad essays. We saw examples of the good and bad essays and what to do and what not to do. We were then given how to write a essay and how to catch the readers attention. We also read poems today. Some of the poems were confusing and had a deep meaning to them.

Today in class my group did our presentation. Out of all the chapters I read I think this chapter 16 was my favorite. Our plan ended up changing because our team captain wasn’t there. Overall it was a good presentation and we made a 98. Later on in the class we was given the dates for our eqt days.

  Today in class we went over the order of presentations since there was a pop up practice ACT. We was in four different groups and was given a quick write according to the group we was in. For the rest of the class we was picked in different groups according to who our team captains picked. We got on kahoot in our groups and did a quiz on pathos,logos, and ethos.
